Bots 

A bot is a non-human worker that some businesses and people use to increase efficiency. Bots can be of many different types: 


    • Chatbots – Simulate conversations with humans (Chat-GPT) 
    • Social bots – Used to spread opinions on social media 
    • Shopbots – These bots find the best prices for products or services online 
    • Knowbots – They access websites to give information to a user 


Bots can also have a physical, motorized counterpart. For example, Amazon uses bots in their warehouses to move products around with more efficiency than humans. Amazon uses thousands of these bots per warehouse which is why Amazon is so fast and efficient. 

 

Machine Learning 

Machine learning is when a program is used to analyse data and trends online. Machine learning is very useful to marketing businesses and selling-based companies to recognise trends and generate the best results possible. 

Machine learning uses a set of instructions known as an algorithm to analyse trends/data. This makes it possible for businesses to use their customer’s data to selectively advertise and market their products. This can lead to a much higher exposure rate as adverts are optimised. 

 

Intelligent Software 

Intelligent software describes software that performs repetitive tasks and learns to optimise it. Intelligent software can save businesses lots of time, money and resources. Machine learning is used in this software to optimise the processes. 

 

Digital Footprint 

 

A digital footprint is a term to describe digital activity over a period. The term ‘digital footprint’ is metaphorical to describe how it is a mark of previous activity online, like how a footprint is left on the floor. Every person that uses the internet has a digital footprint. Some activity includes: 


    • Payments 
    • Web history 
    • CCTV cameras 
    • Emails 
    • Downloading apps 


Some businesses investigate their potential employees’ digital footprint to find any suspicious activity against them. This can benefit a business as they won’t employ a bad employee that may bring unprofessionalism into the business.
