Private sector
Businesses started with the main objective of profit. Usually these do not have any government input.
Public sector
Businesses that are set up for the people of a country. Usually funded by the government. An example of this is the NHS.
Private limited company (LTD)
A private limited company is a business that is not listed on the stock market. Its finances come from other sources such as mortgages, family and friends, CEO investments, etc...
Public limited company (PLC)
A public limited company is a business that is listed on the stock market. People can invest in the company by purchasing shares.
Non-government organisation (NGO)
An NGO is a company that is independent from the government. NGOs mainly provide humanitarian aid or services to help people in need. Some examples are:
- Greenpeace
- Oxfam
- WWF
- Water aid
