Zero-day vulnerabilities
A vulnerability that has been identified but not yet patched. These vulnerabilities make systems vulnerable to exploitation and damage.
Data corruption
Damaged or lost files can cause business to lose lots of vital information. This can put a business on hold whilst they are recovering, losing the business lots of money. Data corruption can happen in lots of ways:
- Malware infections
- Power cuts or force shutdown
- Voltage spike
- Physical hardware issues
- Bad program exits
- Too large databases
- Network transmission issues
System failure
System failures happen through hardware and/or software faults. They can also occur through a cyber-attack however; most system faults happen through human error. System failures can cause damage to hardware, legal issues, additional staff training and downtime causing damage to the business's reputation and loss of deals.
