SMART Scenario

 SMART scenario

Scenario

Due to a change in customer expectations on services, the need has arisen to investigate horizontal markets, or pivot the business activities to a cloud-based server solution. How can we support these new expectations without impacting the business in a negative way?

SMART objectives

    • Complete research on cloud-based server solutions and how it would help the business – This would help the business to understand whether cloud solutions would be right for their infrastructure and if they are cost-effective and provide the required resources. It would also help to outline the budget required for the project.
    • Assess risks for switching to cloud-based server solutions – Identifying risks can help with creating contingency plans to mitigate the risks involved. The business can also consider if the project is too high risk to complete and if the resources are met to successfully complete the switch.
    • Research other businesses to find out if switching to cloud-based server solutions is the right decision – Researching similar business will give the company a pre-conceived idea on how the project may work out. The problems for the other business are identified and a mitigation plan is created and planned.

How are these objectives SMART?

The objectives are:

    • Specific – They are very relevant to the section of the project it is focused on.
    • MeasurableThe success for the target is measurable and its value can be visualised.
    • Achievable – The objectives are not big tasks but small manageable goals.
    • Realistic – The objectives are reasonable to complete.
    • Time-bound – The objectives can be completed without the worry of time.
