Amazon
Amazon would hold large amounts of data about all its customers individually. They hold names, addresses, payment information, customer trends and buying patterns, age and gender. Pretty much all this data is sensitive and is classed as a top priority for security. Here is Amazon’s privacy policy. This puts Amazon under a high responsibility to keep customer data private under the GDPR. If Amazon was to have a data breach, all stolen/leaked information would put them at risk of punishment from the government for breaking data protection laws. The customers also have the right to withdraw and view their data at any point given by the ICO: “The data subject shall have the right to withdraw his or her consent at any time”. Amazon must adhere to approved codes of conduct given to them by the GDPR on how they hold and use customer data so that they are storing it in the safest way possible for their customers and themselves.
