VLANs in Cisco Packet Tracer
VLANs in Cisco Packet Tracer
All PCs have static IP addresses ranging from 10.0.0.1 - 10.0.0.4. The 2 PCs on the left are part of the home VLAN with the number 2. These PCs can interact with each other but not with the other 2 PCs that are on the work VLAN with the number 3. Here is how I created the VLANs.
I added the VLANs manually to the database. You can also do it with the command line interface (CLI) with commands:
- Config t
- Vlan 2
- Name home
- Exit
- Vlan 3
- Name work
- Exit
Finally, I added each PC to their VLANS. Then i tested it with the ping command:
As you can see, the PC with IP 10.0.0.2 is being pinged because it is on the same VLAN as the current PC. However, the PC with the IP 10.0.0.3 times out as they are on different VLANS.
