 Port Forward Protocols 

 

FTP – 20 and 21 

FTP stands for file transfer protocol. It is a way of transferring and uploading files onto a server from a client. 

SSH – 22 

SSH stands for secure shell, and it is for tunnelling secure network connections. 

SMTP – 25 

SMTP stands for simple mail transfer protocol, and it's used for emails. 

DNS – 53 

DNS stands for domain name system, and it's used for converting IP addresses into human readable addresses so that users can access websites and applications without having to memorise IP addresses. 

HTTP – 80 

HTTP stands for hyper text transfer protocol and is used for pulling web pages from the world wide web. 

NTP – 123 

NTP stands for network time protocol. It allows computer clocks to sync to each other for encryption purposes. 

BGP – 179 

BGP stands for border gateway protocol and is used to find the quickest and most efficient route through large networks. 

HTTPS – 443 

HTTPS stands for hyper text transfer protocol secure and is used for secure web connections using encryption methods. 

ISAKMP – 500 

ISAKMP stands for internet security association and key management protocol. It is used to set up secure IPsec connections. 

RDP – 3389 

RDP stands for remote desktop protocol, and it's used to allows users to remotely connect to other machines.
