Culture and Technology in a Business

 Culture

Ethics

A subjective view of social acceptance. Ethical behaviour is key to a business, especially a digitalised one. Employees must be educated to display good morals and be ethical. Equality and morality in a company is important to success. Employers must raise awareness of ethical issues and train employees to always show good moral behaviour.

Technological Advances

Due to new technologies, culture is more accessible than ever before. People can learn about new cultures online which can make them more understanding and ethical. However, some cultures may be seen as morally wrong to others which can lead to discrimination in some cases. Understanding culture can improve globalisation and professionalism in businesses. Professionalism increases:

    • Reputation
    • Productivity
    • Outlook

Overall, understanding culture in a business can lead to lots of benefits for the employees and the company itself. However, professionalism can also harm your business:

    • May create a worse business environment
    • Less opportunity to be informal
    • Less social interaction
    • More monitoring can create feelings of breached privacy

Technology can introduce more flexibility and socialising which can be a good way to battle the negatives of professionalism.
