 Task reflection using Gibb’s theory 

 

My task = Making a ransomware virus 

 

Description – What happened? 

I created a ransomware virus for educational purposes. The virus was safely stored on the college network and not programmed to spread/cause lots of damage. 


Feelings – What were you thinking and feeling? 

I was thinking about how to make the virus as hidden as possible and which files to encrypt and keep the same. I didn’t want to make it too hard as the level 2 students may not be able to complete the task. 


Evaluation – What was good and bad? 

The virus worked well and was able to encrypt one folder on the PC. The virus is very easy to find however. 


Analysis 

I found how to code a virus in python. This will help my knowledge in cyber-security.

 

Conclusion 

I could’ve made the virus harder to find and more complex. 


Action plan 

I could do some more research to accomplish my goals.
